Why did Liverpool need rebranding
In 18th and 19th century Liverpool was a huge port handling thousands of tonnes of imports and exports daily
It was filled with crime, poverty, traffic congestion and lack of services, vandalism and economic and social decline due to docks closing in 1980s leading to industrial decline
Why did locals not have many jobs
A port was built further out the city meaning less employment for locals
Shopping in Liverpool
Used to be the 3rd most visited shopping destination in 1960s but in 2002 it dropped to 17th and 2008 back up to 5th.
It has a potential catchment of 1.8 million which led to development of Liverpool one shopping centre.

What is the culture like in Liverpool
• European capital city of culture was presented to Liverpool in 2008due to the cities rich history, culture and art heritage • Rich music history (beetles)
• In 2008 £2.8 mill spent on economy boosting it by £800 million
• 15 million tourists were attracted to over 7,000 cultural events across the city in one year
•monthly markets attract local artists
What was done to Liverpool waterfront
£29 million was put into regeneration of the waterfront. In 2004 it was awarded as a world heritage site.

The Merseyside developments corporation set to reclaim 4km^2 of derelict land - creating new housing and thousands of new jobs

The former derelict ship was made into a toast attraction in 1988 attracting 4 million a year now.
