- Academic- for a stand alone product about a specific topic. (does not include features or functionality of the product)

- Problem formulation- what topic is being examined?
- Literature search- finding materials relevant to the topic
- Data evaluation- determining which literature makes significant contributions
- Analysis and interpretation- discussing the findings and the conclusion.

- Take notes from important points from the abstract: The problem statement and Objectives.
