What is the integumentary system?
The skin, hair, nails, sebaceous (oil) glands and sweat glands.
What makes up the Skeletal system?
Bones, ligaments and cartilage.
What makes up the muscular system?
Muscles and tendons
What makes up the nervous system?
The brain, spinal cord, nerves, sensory and organs.
What makes up the endocrine system?
The hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid glands, pancreas, pineal gland, adrenal glands and thymus.
What makes up the cardiovascular system?
The heart, blood, arteries, veins and capillaries.
What makes up the lymphatic system?
The lymphatic vessels, lymph nodes, spleen and lymph fluid.
What makes up the digestive system?
The mouth, teeth, salivary glands, gallbladder, pancreas, small intestine, large intestine, rectum and anus.
What is the respiratory system?
The nose, nasal cavity, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi and lungs.

The ovaries, uterine tubes, uterus, vagina, clitoris and vulva.

It acts through electrical signals
What is the purpose of the nervous system?
It controls rapid responses of the body. It is also responsible for higher function, consciousness, memory and creativity.
What is the purpose of the endocrine system?
Secretes hormones into the blood, which controls metabolic activities, water and ionic balance, and other processes that require duration rather than speed.
What is the purpose of the immune system?
Defends against foreign bodies and cancer cells. Paves way for tissue repair.
What is the purpose of the integumentary system?
Serves as a protective barrier between external environments and the remainder of the body, sweat glands and adjustments in blood flow to skin are in Portland in temperature regulation.
What is the purpose of the muscular and skeletal systems?
Supports and protects body parts and allows body movement. Calcium is stored in bones and heat generating muscles important in temperature control.
What is the purpose of the respiratory system?
Obtains O2 from and eliminates CO2 to external environment. Helps regulate pH by adjusting the rate of removal of acid-forming CO2.
What is the purpose of the Urinary System?
Removes wastes and excess water, salt and other ions from plasma and eliminates them in the urine, important in regulating the volume, ionic composition and pH of the internal to external environment.
What is the purpose of the Reproductive System?
Not essential for homeostasis. But required for continuation of the species.
