Any recurring element that has symbolic significance in a story
Ode
A type of poem devoted to the praise of a person, animal, or thing.
An ode is usually written in an elevated style and often expresses deep feeling
Onomatopoeia
A word, which imitates the natural sound of a thing.
Ex: “gushing stream”, “whisper”
Oxymoron
A figure of speech that juxtaposes elements that appear to be contradictory. Usually two contradictory words that makes the meaning unclear
Examples: “cruel kindess”, “living death”, “seriously funny”, “Open secret”
Imminent
Likely to occur at any moment; impending
