What is Lisinopril’s therapeutic category?
Angiotensin- converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor
What are Lisinopril’s indications?
Hypertension, congestive heart failure, acute myocardial infarction
What is Lisinopril’s usual adult dose?
2.5 - 40 mg once a day
MAX: 40 mg/day
What are Lisinopril’s common side effects?
Cough, orthostatic hypotension, headache, hyperkalemia
What are Lisinopril’s monitoring parameters?
BP
BUN, serum creatine, potassium
What are Lisinopril’s available dosage forms?
Oral tablet: 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg, 30 mg, 40 mg
What are Lisinopril’s warnings?
BLACK BOX warning: Can cause injury and death to developing fetus when used in the second and third trimester; discontinue asap once pregnancy is detected
What are Lisinopril’s counseling points?
When starting/increasing dose, caution patient on orthostatic hypotension (1-3 hrs after dose)
Caution on taking K+ salt substitutes and supplements, and K+ sparing diuretics
Seek medical help if signs of angioedema appear (swelling of lips, face, tongue, or throat)
Report a persistent cough
