12.5-100 mg q day - BID
MAX: 200 mg/day
What are Hydrochlorothiazide’s common side effects?
Hypokalemia, orthostatic hypotension, photosensitivity, verigo
What are Hydrochlorothiazide’s monitoring parameters?
BP, weight, electrolytes (K, Na, Mg), BUN, creatine
fluid loss
What are Hydrochlorothiazide’s available dosage forms?
Oral tablet: 12.5 mg, 25 mg, 50 mg
Oral capsule: 12.5 mg
What are Hydrochlorothiazide’s counseling points?
Avoid overexposure to the sun or use of sunlamp
Take in the morning to avoid increased urination at night (do not take past 6pm if taken 2x a day)
Potential cross reactivity with sulfa allergies
