Liquid Tumors Descriptions Flashcards
-Hematopoietic progenitor cell malignancy -Most common in kids (very curable), but seen again >50yrs
Acute Lymphoid Leukemia (ALL)
-Malignancy of plasma cells -Results in marrow replacement (fucks up hematopoiesis), bone destruction
Multiple Myeloma
Follicular NHL
Indolent
Diffuse large B-Cell NHL
Aggressive
Burkitt’s NHL
Highly aggressive
-Overproduction of myeloid cells
Chronic Myeloid Leukemia
-Malignancy of B lymphocytes -Most common leukemia (western hemisphere) -Organ infiltration with lymphocytes -Indolent and slowly progressing
Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL)
-Hematopoietic progenitor cell malignancy–> cells proliferate uncontrolled–> replace normal bone marrow elements -Most common acute leukemia
Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)
-Heterogenous group of cancers of lymphocytes (most often B cells) -Vary from indolent to highly aggressive
Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma
