Lipids Part 2 Flashcards
What are the major lipids and lipoproteins?
Lipids
- Cholesterol
- phospholipid
- Trigylceride
Lipoproteins
- LDL
- HDL
- IDL
- VLDL
- Chylomicrons
What are the atherosclerotic CVD conditions?
- Cerebral vascular Dz
- Coronary Heart Dz
- PAD
- Atherosclerotic Dz(AAA, DAA)
Pediatric Pts WITH risk factors what age do you start screening?
2 yrs old
What age do you screen in pediatric pts WITHOUT CVD risk factors?
9-11
17-21
Based on ASCVD risk % what would be considered high risk and low risk ?
High risk >20%
Low Risk <5%
What makes metabolic syndrome?
Abd obesity
High TG
HTN
DM 2
Hypertriglyceridemia can cause pancreatitis what level of TG would you be concerned about this?
> 500 mg/dL
Order the lipoproteins(these transport) from least dense to most dense?
chylomicrons VLDL-carries trigylcerides IDL LDL- carrier of cholesterol HDL- carrier of phospholipids
How do you calculate VLDL?
TG/5=VLDL
What are primary vs secondary disorders ?
Primary are familiar or genetic
secondary are lifestyle other dz or medication driven
What would be the general expected finding in an ABI( ankle-brachial Index)?
The lower extremity should have a higher bp than upper
ABI compares brachial BP to Ankle BP
What additional tests might you consider for ASCVD evaluation?
ABI-Bp comparison
HC-RP-measures inflammation from atherosclerotic arteries
Lp(a)- type of high atherosclerotic LDL
apoB- component of atherosclerotic lipoproteins high level = lots of lipoproteins
