Link content to the mission/ values/ revenue:
Ex. “If there’s a great feedback culture, how does that help accomplish your mission/objectives?”
PRO TIP: Study the mission before the session and bring it up a lot in the sessions.
CREATE A GAP
Create a gap
If they push back, let them see that they actually need the skills you are sharing.
Have them do a self-rating of their skills (even if at an 8, share - that’s exciting, moving to a 9 will have exponential impact because they, in their roles, resonate and are contagious).
ASK high scorers to help demo things – for example if they say they are over a 5, have them do a demo of the coaching, etc.
DIAL UP YOUR POWER CORRECTLY
Dial up your power correctly:
If you are high on power, dial back the “what you should do” language, replace it with ‘what we see great managers doing is xyz’.
If you’re low on power, assert the value you bring via seeing so many other managers across companies.
