Line Training Flashcards
Turbulence penetration speeds
250kts up to FL150
275kts up to ~310 then 0.76
Min standoff distance from another jet on the ground
30m stationary
46m if moving
( TWY 15m light spacing helps judge )
Why might the GREEN hyd quantity be low in flight?
Gear is held up by the green system
Engine warm up requirements
If turn around >2hrs need 5min warm up
Fuel temp limits (max)
54/55° depending on callsign
Engine start sequence
IGN on 30sec after master switch on
EGT increase max 20sec after FF starts
IGN &Start valve off N2>43%
Manual engine start, when does eng master go on
> 30sec after man start pb and only if N2 stable >16%
What does the fault light on the eng panel below the master switch mean?
HP shutoff valve position is abnormal, auto start sequence has aborted, or there’s a malfunction of the thrust control. There will be an associated ECAM caution
When will an auto start automatically dry crank before adding fuel?
If EGT >250 until it’s down below 250
When is a full cockpit prep required?
When it’s a new airframe to you ( 1st flight of the day or tail swap)
Return to service after maintenance
Transit stop left unattended for >1hr
If you’re tankering fuel to a destination >30° what precautions should you apply?
Don’t retract below CONF 1
Don’t turn ADIRS off (realignment or Securing Aircraft)
Ensure ground equipment is clear before operating flaps/slats on turnaround
Thunderstorm avoidance in the cruise
Endeavour to avoid active cells by:
• 20nm CLIMB/CRZ/DES until 5000’ above
• 5nm TO/LAND
Changed to remove 10nm below FL250 IN FSO 202/22 16DEC22
Thunderstorm Avoidance Takeoff and Descent/Approach
• Don’t TO until clear path
• Descent clear of TS
• Circuit and App at least 5nm
• TO/Land, TS may be approached by <5nm with caution if storm has passed
Missed approach THR RED/ ACC heights
VMC - 1000 / 1500 HAA | 1500 HAT
IMC - 1500 HAA / MAPT ALT | MAPT ALT
(Can set MSA if lower than MAPT)
Last flight of the day checks
Only if landing at main mtce base:
WAI ON for 30sec towards the end of CRZ, prior to TOD.
If HI PR fault appears: WAI OFF & ON again, check no caution for 10sec.
If it does come on again, check again on DES.
After successful reset EXAM msg “THRUST LIM PENALTY” wil be there till after landing. No actual penalty applies in this case.
Descent speeds and ROD limits
250kts below 5000
Max 5000’/min FL200-5000’
Max 3000’/min to 3000’
Max 2000’/min to 1000’
Max 1000’/min below 1000’
High Speed descent considerations
Either selected speed or Open DES until below ~FL260 and safe margin from VMO
Visual Slope Guidance U/S - considerations
• Check isn’t specified as essential in OM2A
• Review obstacle/terrain data
• EGPWS must be serviceable
• Check JSS > FLIGHT > APPROACH SLOPE GUIDANCE for the table to see if you can depart to somewhere without it
FO approach minima
Within 200’ / 2km of approach minima
CAPT must be PF.
Circuit Breaker Policy
Don’t inflight unless Capt deems safety issue.
CAUTION: Don’t reset tripped fuel pump breakers.
If necessary:
- 2min cool down is recommended
- 1 reset only
- MTCE Watch via JOCC & Duty Pilot should be consulted (time permitting)
Pack flow selection pax numbers
141 - 320
168 - 321neo
When will the ACT fuel transfer start on the NEO?
30min after gear up
Stops if centre tank reaches 5.75t until it is <5t
When do we hard tune RNP?
RNP/RNAV or ICAO RNP(AR) [that’s basically all except NZQN]
Navaid overlay approaches also set to 0.3
PRO NOR JSS INSTRUMENT FLIGHT P7-14/14
Scott Plane’s fuel range rules of thumb
320
AEO - 180nm/t
OEI - 145nm/t
DP - 125nm/t
321 CEOs
Subtract 20nm from ALL
321 NEOs
No idea, haven’t worked it out yet
