Symptoms
A
Weakness of grip and aching hand/forearm
- pain bad at night
- relieved by hanging hand over sided of bed
- WAKE AND SHAKE
Paraesthesia of hand
Wasting of thenar eminence

Diagnosis
A
PHALEN TEST: Flex fist for 1 min, +ve = paraesthesia and pain
TINEL TEST: tapping wrist causes tingling
GOLD STANDARD: EMG

Treatment
A
Wrist splint at night + steroid injection (acutely v.painful)
Last resort = surgical decompression
