Where is a masthead light placed on a vessel?
Over the fore + Aft of the centreline
What are the specs of a Masthead light?
Unbroken arc - 225 degrees
Right ahead to 22.5 degrees abaft her beam
What is a sidelight? What are its specs?
Green Light STBD
Red light PORT
Unbroken Light - 112.5 degrees
22.5 degrees from either side
Each showing an unbroken arc of 112.5 Degrees so as fixed as to show the light from right ahead to 22.5 degrees abaft her beam on the respective side.
Vessels Under 20m may have a combined side light in one lantern
What is a sternlight? what are its specs?
Unbroken Light - 135 degrees
67.5 degrees from aft either side
White light placed as nearly practicable at the stern showing an unbroken light over the horizon of 135 degrees
and so fixed as to show the light from 67.5 degrees from right aft on each side of vessel
What is a towing light? what are its specs?
Yellow light with same characteristics as a stern light
Unbroken Light - 135 degrees
67.5 degrees from aft either side
What is an all round light?
Unbroken arc of 360 degrees over the horizon
What is a flashing light interval?
Flashing at regular intervals of 120 or more per minute
