Rats
Rats were prominent due to damp conditions and feasting on corpses, would bite soldiers leading in outbreaks of TB
Lice
Often burrowed in Scottish soldiers kilts, caused outbreaks in trench fever making soldiers unfit to fight
Trench foot
Muddy, wet conditions caused large amounts of water to deteriorate soldiers’ foot muscles, often caused amputation
PTSD
Many soldiers couldn’t cope physiologically with the stress of the war, causing them to act erratic, dandering themselves, plus others
Snipers
Constant threat to soldiers had to be weary of their every move or they could get a bullet through their head
Boredom
Routine was repetitive, everyday was the same, same chores caused to soldiers to become fed up and demoralised
