Life and Living Flashcards
What are living things?
Living things need to carry out the 7 life processes
What are the 7 life processes?
Movement
Respiration
Sensitivity
Growth
Reproduction
Excretion
Nutrition
What is movement?
All living things move. Plants grow and move towards the sun. Animals move from place to place.
What is respiration?
Respiration is breaking down food for energy. Changing Carbon Dioxide into Oxygen
What is sensitivity?
All living things can feel changes in their environment.
What is Growth?
All living things can grow. Animal babies grow into adults and seeds grow into plants.
What is reproduction?
All living things reproduce. Animals have young and plants produce seeds from which more plants grow.
What is excretion?
Waste products are removed from the body. Both plants and animals have to get rid of extra water and gas.
What is nutrition?
Animals eat food in order to get nutrients. Plants produce their own food by turning sunlight into energy. This is called photosynthesis.
What are non-living things?
Non-Living things do not carry out the 7 life processes
What are dead things?
Dead things use to carry out the 7 life processes but now they don’t.
