Autocratic, Demoncratic, Laissez-faire
Autocratic (Authoritarian)
The leader makes the decision wihtout asking others.
A police officer
Democratic (Participative)
The leader consults the team but makes the final decision.
Encourages others to share their views.
Domocratic leaders like Dwight Eisenhower.
Laissez-faire (Delegative)
To leave alone.
The team makes their own decisions
Leader trust the team.
Highly skilled industries like Google
Autocratic (Main Features)
Leader takes all decisions.
Gives little information to staff.
Supervises workers closely.
Only one-way communication.
Workers only given limited information about the business.
Democratic (Main Features)
Participation encouraged.
Two-way communication used, which allows feedback from staff.
Workers given information about the business to allow full staff involvement.
Laissez-faire (Main Features)
Laissez-faire means to “leave alone”.
Leader has little input into day-to-day decision-making and delegates virtually all authority and decision-making powers.
Very broad criteria or limits might be established for the staff to work within.
