Q

for a change to happen:

A
  • the DRVING FORCE MUST BE STRENGTHENED or the retraininig force must be weakended so that the driving force overpowers the restraining forces and a new equilbrium piont is established.

Q

1.weighting

A

the process of scoring and attributing value to the driving and restraining forces

e.g building an overseas manufacturing plant, the most heavily weighted force are shareholders expectations. The most heavy restraining force was employee fear.

Q
  1. Implementing
A

Once the force field analysis has been completed, the business can then decide whether or not to move forward with implementing change, based on whether the forces against change outweigh the forces for it. The business can also consider strategies to strengthen the driving force and weaken the restraing force for it so that more sucecssful change can occur.

Q

4.Evaluating

A

the business considers whether the goal objective has been achieved and if not, what can now be done to further strengthen driving force, and/or weaken restraining force.

Q

what does ranking involve?

A

It involves using scores given in the wiegthing process to order each force from the most to least influencial in terms of its impacts on the proposed change.

Q

Process of fore field.

A
  1. Give a WEIGHTING to current driving and restraining force
  2. RANK the top restraining and driving force to eliminate or strengthen them

3.List actions required and IMPLEMENT a response

4.EVALUATE the response

Q

Vocab: Equilbirum

A

the state where the oppoing forces are in balance

-If driving and restraining forces are in equilbirum then either driving forces need to be strengthened or resting forces wekened for sucessful chage to occur.

Q

Vocab: status quo

A

the ways in things have been in the past
- if Restraing forces are too strong and then the change will not be sucessful and then status quo will remain in place.

Q

advanatage

A

-provides management a clear indication of forces for and agaisnt the change

-provides clear actions that can be used to minimise strengths of restrianing force

-can help determine id the change is worth pursuing

-identifies most critical factors impacting the change

Q

disadvantages

A
  • both identifying forces and weighting of the subjective forces

-strong focus on the current state, with a lack of focus on the future stake

-Conducting through force filed analysis required time, effort, and resources.
