Q

What is nominal data

A

The level of measurement that shows categories of data represented by frequencies, the data sets have no relative numerical value

eg. boys and girls/ tall, medium and short

What is ordinal data

A

Data that can be placed into ascending or descending order, but interval between data are not necessarily equal

Q

What is interval data

A

The level of measurement that has equal numerical intervals between scores

eg. temperature the interval between 1 and 2 degrees is the same as 20 and 21 degrees

Q

What is an advantage and a disadvantage of all of the levels of measurement

A

+ it is quantitative data that can be used to analyse and compare to detect patterns and trends
- it is descriptive and doesn’t give detail or explanation as to why the data is the way it is
