Nominal

A

Shows categories of data represented by frequencies. No relative numerical value.
E.g. groups like Girls and Boys

Q

Ordinal

A

Data can be placed into ascending or descending order but intervals between data not necessarily equal.
E.g. times for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in a race. Happiness scale 1-5

Ratio

A

Equal intervals between scores and has absolute/true zero point.
E.g. speed (mph)

Q

Interval

A

Equal numerical intervals between scores. E.g. temperature. Interval between 1-2 degrees is same as 21-22 degrees

Q

What are levels of measurement

A

Refer to the way variables/data have been measured within a study. Signify both the type of data that has been collected and how sophisticated/complex the data ia

Q

What is the difference between each level of measurement?

A

-how sophisticated or detailed each is. Nominal least bcs gives basic picture (e.g. 7 people own dog, 8 don’t).
Ratio most sophisticated because it’s both interval and has true 0 point.
