Nominal Data

- Category data
> If using nominal data to summarise exam performance we might simply record whether a student passed or failed their exam.

Ordinal data
A
- Ranked data.
> When looking at student exam performance instead of recording whether they passed or failed we would go a step further and rank them in terms of who got the highest mark, the second highest mark etc.
> Adds more meaning to the data
» Doesn’t tell us what the gaps are between each score

Interval data
A
- Data on a scale.
> eg. units of time, temperature or scores on a test
> Scores achieved by each student on the test.
> Provides more information than ordinal data as we can now see how each person performed in relation to the other students
