Root

Example:

Example:

V: to take or try to take hold of something or someone tightly, usually in fear, worry, or pain.
Example:He collapsed, clutching his stomach.
Pat
V: to touch someone or something gently and usually repeatedly with the hand flat
Example:
-He patted my head/patted me on the head affectionately.
-I bent down to pat the little puppy.

V: to force someone to leave a school, organization, or country
Example:
-The new government has expelled all foreign diplomats.
-be expelled from: My brother was expelled from school for bad behaviour.

Example:

Example:a top speed of about 20 knots

Example:

Example:
-In the 1860s, Tolstoy was at the zenith of his achievement.
-His career reached its zenith in the 1960s.
Palatial
Adj: (of a house or other property) large and highly decorated; like a palace
Example:They lived in a palatial apartment.
Accoutrements
N: the equipment needed for a particular activity or way of life
Fit somebody/something out
Phrasal verb: to provide someone or something with all of the things that will be needed
Example:
-They fitted the factory out for the production of light bulbs.
-The apartments are fitted out to the highest standard.

Adj: having no openings to allow water to get in
Example:They’re doing some repairs to make the roof more watertight.
Maiden
N: a girl or young woman
Example:
fair maiden: In the story, the prince woos and wins the fair(beautiful)maiden.
Adj: being the first of its type
Example:
-The first hydrogen-powered airplane will make its maiden flight this year.

N: a long journey, especially by ship
Example:He was a young sailor on his first sea voyage.
Tycoon
N: a person who has succeeded in business or industry and has become very rich and powerful
Example:
a business/property/shipping tycoon

V: to (cause something or someone to) move suddenly and violently
Example:The train stopped unexpectedly and we were jolted forwards.
Incur
V: to experience something bad as a result of actions you have taken
Example:We incurred heavy expenses to repair the poor work done by the builder.

1. to give someone so much work or so many things that they cannot deal with it all
Example:We have been inundated with requests for help.
