Example:

N: someone whose job is to make things that are broken work correctly

Discontented
Adj: feeling unhappy because you want better treatment or an improved situation
Example:
-He had to cope with large numbers of discontented passengers.
-discontented with: Nurses are increasingly discontented with changes in their workplace.
-After being married for a few years she grew discontented.
Sour
V: to (cause to) become unpleasant or unfriendly
Example:
-Her whole attitude to life soured as a result of that experience.
-This incident has soured relations between the two countries.
Offend
V: to make someone upset or angry
Example:
-I think she was offended that she hadn’t been invited to the party.
-He looked offended when you called him middle-aged.
-If the sight of a few dirty dishes offends you, then I think you’re in trouble!
Turn of mind
N: a characteristic way of thinking
Example:His natural supporters are the urban poor, and educated people of a liberal turn of mind.
Pity
V: to feel sadness or sympathy for someone’s unhappiness or bad situation
Example:
-I pity anyone who’s never been in love.
-He’s deeply unhappy, and more to be pitied than criticized.
Disposition
N: the particular type of character that a person naturally has
Example:She is of a nervous/cheerful/sunny disposition.
Disgusted
Adj: feeling extreme dislike or disapproval of something
Example:
-disgusted at: She was disgusted at the way they treated their children.
disgusted with: I’m totally disgusted with your behaviour.
Congeniality
N: the quality of being friendly and pleasant
Admonition
N: a piece of advice that is also a warning to someone about their behaviour
Example:
The most common parental admonition must surely be “Don’t stay out late”.

Stir
V: to move or to cause something to move slightly
Example:
-A light breeze stirred the leaves lying on the path.

Example:We incurred heavy expenses to repair the poor work done by the builder.
Censure
V: to express strong criticism or disapproval
Example:
-Ministers were censured for their lack of decisiveness during the crisis.
-The likelihood is that he will be severely censured and possibly also fined.
Disgrace
V: to make people stop respecting you or your family, team, etc. by doing something very bad
Example:You have disgraced us all with your behaviour.
Aggravate
V:
1.to make a bad situation worse
Example:
-Attempts to restrict parking in the city centre have further aggravated the problem of traffic congestion.
2.to make a disease worse
Example:
The treatment only aggravated the condition.
Misconduct
N: wrong or immoral behavior of someone in a position of authority or responsibility
Example:
-criminal misconduct

Condescend
Condescend to do something:
If you condescend to do something, you agree to do something that you do not consider to be good enough for your social position
Example:
-I wonder if Michael will condescend to visit us?
Fret
V: to be nervous or worried
Example:
-Don’t fret - I’m sure he’s OK.
-fret about: She spent the day fretting about what she’d said to Nicky.
-fret over: As a new mother, I fretted over any delay in my daughter’s development.
Acquaintance
N:
1.a person that you have met but do not know well
Example:
-a business acquaintance.
2.knowledge of a subject
Example:
acquaintance with: Sadly, my acquaintance with Spanish literature is rather limited.
Entangle
V: to trap something within something else from which it is difficult to escape
Example:A seal became entangled in the fishing net.
Crooked
Adj: not forming a straight line, or having many bends
Example:
-You have to drive slowly on these crooked country roads.
-His front teeth are crooked.
Infect
V: to pass a disease to a person, animal, or plant
Example:
-(be) infected with: The ward was full of children infected with TB.
-All the tomato plants are infected with a virus.
Prone
Adj: be prone to something/do something:
likely to show a particular characteristic, usually a negative one, or to be affected by something bad, such as damage or an illness.
Example:I’ve always been prone to headaches.
Impaired
Adj: Something that is impaired is less effective than it should be, or is damaged
Example:
-She suffers from impaired vision/hearing.
-The medication is associated with impaired motor skills.
Coordination
N: the ability to make your arms, legs, and other body parts move in a controlled way
Example:
Gymnastics is a sport that requires a lot of coordination.
Medication
N: any substance used to treat an illness or disease, esp. a drug
Example:

Brittle
Adj: delicate and easily broken
Example:
-As you get older your bones become increasingly brittle.
-The pond was covered in a brittle layer of ice.
Conquer
V: to deal with or successfully fight against a problem or an unreasonable fear
Example:
-conquer your fear: He has finally conquered his fear of spiders.
-It may be many years before this dreadful disease is conquered.
Susceptible
Adj: easily influenced or harmed by something
Example:
-She isn’t very susceptible to flattery.
-These plants are particularly susceptible to frost.
-Among particularly susceptible children, the disease can develop very fast.
Invincible
Adj: impossible to defeat or prevent from doing what is intended
Example:Last year the company seemed/looked invincible but in recent weeks has begun to have problems.
Indestructible
Adj: impossible to destroy or break
Example:
virtually indestructible: These plastic cups are virtually(almost)indestructible.
-Whatever the degradation, the human spirit can be indestructible.
Degradation
N: the process in which the beauty or quality of something is destroyed or spoiled
Example:environmental degradation
Hereditary
Adj: (of characteristics or diseases) passing from a parent to a child through the genes
Example:
-a hereditary disease
-Depression is often hereditary.
-It is possible that her heart condition is hereditary.
Fusion
N: an occasion when two or more things join or are combined
Example:
-nuclear fusion
-Their music is described as “an explosive fusion of Latin American and modern jazz rhythms”.

N: a thing or person that is very surprising or causes a lot of admiration
Example:
-This miniature phone is the latest technological marvel from Japan.
-It’s a marvel (to me) how they’ve managed to build the tunnel so quickly.

V: to join two pieces of rope, film, etc. together at their ends in order to form one long piece
Example:Scientists have discovered how to splice pieces of DNA.
Facsimile
N: an exact copy, especially of a document
Example:facsimile of: a facsimile of the original manuscript
Interferon
N: a substance produced in the body to fight against viruses
Propensity
N: a tendency to behave in a particular way
Example:
The poll confirmed Americans’ growing propensity to invest in the stock market.
Henceforth
Adv: starting from this time
Example:Henceforth, attendance will be taken in all classes.
Inhibit
V: to prevent someone from doing something by making them feel nervous or embarrassed
Example:
be inhibited (from): Some workers were inhibited (from speaking) by the presence of their managers.

N: a quality in a substance or material, especially one that means that it can be used in a particular way
Example:
-One of the properties of copper is that it conducts heat and electricity very well.
