LET or LEAVE?

La différence entre “let” et “leave”, qui veulent tous deux dire “laisser”, est la suivante:

On utilise “let” lorsqu’on laisse quelqu’un faire quelque chose. En d’autres mots, lorsqu’on lui PERMET de faire quelque chose.

Exemple: I let my kids go to bed whenever they want. Good bosses let their employees make decisions.

On utilise “leave” dans le sens de ‘laisser” quand on n’apporte pas quelque chose avec nous.

Exemple: I left my cellphone at home today. I left the document on your desk.
