What is “avoir peur de” in English?

Exemple: J’ai peur des araignées et des abeilles.

A

(be) scared of…

Example: I’m scared of spiders and of bees.

NOTE: Le mot “scared” ici, bien qu’il s’écrive avec “-ed” à la fin, ne signifie en rien qu’il est au passé. C’est plutôt un adjectif qui utilise le participe passé de “scare”.

C’est plutôt le verbe “être” (be) qui va montrer qu’on parle au passé, au présent ou au futur.

Exemple:
I’m scared. (présent)
I was scared. (passé)
I will be scared. (futur)

C’est la même chose avec plusieurs adjectifs tels “surprised”, “tired”, “amazed”, etc.

Exemples:
I was surprised to see her at the party.
Were you tired after your big weekend?
I’m amazed with your progress, Kim!
