Vetting Sources
-Who or what is the source of the writing/article you are reading?
-If from a person, who is the person? Who does that person work for?
-If the information comes form a company.. which company? What goods and services does that company provide?
Authority
A trusted source for decisions, instructions, and information.
To have a person’s authority in writing means
you trust and rely on the source.
What is an scope in authority ?
The portion where the authority is relevant.
Media
-Who published this information?
-Who is the author?
-Can they be trusted?
-Do they have a good reputation or are they likely to be biased?
-Can you reach or contact the publisher?
Conflict of Interest
Watch out for conflict of interest, when the writer has two different interests and one goal.
