Regionalism is based on three ingredients:
Identifiable geographical region
Geographical proximity
Organization with a common sense of identity and purpose
Are, in a sense, international organizations (IOs), as they incorporate international membership and encompass geopolitical entities that operationally transcend a single nation state.
Regional organizations
Their membership is characterized by boundaries and demarcations characteristic to a defined and unique geography, such as continents, or geopolitics, such as economic blocs.
Regional organizations
The study of the relations of states with each other and with international organizations and certain subnational entities
International Relations
Institutional arrangements designed to facilitate the free flow of goods and services and to coordinate foreign economic policies between countries in the same geographic region.
Economic regionalism
Defined as programmatic globalization, the vision of a borderless world
Globalism
Indicates a qualitative deepening of the internationalization process, strengthening the functional and weakening the territorial dimension of development
