What are 3 examples of responsible consumption and production?
- Forestry: long-term harvesting plans and quotas of certain timbers to prevent depletion of resources, market price crashes and loss of habitat.
- Floristry: use of flowers and material that will last more than a couple of days, or not overproducing flower crops to avoid waste.
- Land-based machinery: material and work that are not short-term solutions; choice of correct materials and machinery for the appropriate task.
What aims does the Agenda 2030 set out for the UK involving life below water?
- Working internationally to manage ocean change sustainably and provide modern, accurate marine data. Developing the skills needed to manage and protect critical marine ecosystems.
- Developing and encouraging sustainable fishing regulations, reducing water contamination and protecting healthy UK marine biodiversity
What aims does the Agenda 2030 set out for the UK involving life on land?
- Promoting effective use of natural resources and the environment through development programmes.
- Promoting conservation and sustainable management of UK habitats, including forests and woodlands, and protecting important sites, such as Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs). This includes the preservation of genetic material (eg the Millennium Seed Bank at Kew Gardens).
