It may be used if there does not exist any simple, familiar term for it. Both convenience and accuracy justify it.
UNFAMILIAR WORDS FOR UNFAMILIAR THINGS
This category embraces most of those words that are commonly thought as “technical” terms. They are specialized terms of professional groups: big, formidable looking looking (to the non-specialist), they often than not of Greek or Latin origin. Terms like “dielectric”, “hydrosol”, “impedance”, are typical.
UNFAMILAR WORDS FOR FAMILIAR THINGS

INFORMAL STYLE

This is a method of adding a particular or minute account, or adding supporting details to a term. This is mainly for the purpose of clarifying the meaning of a word.

This method is used in order to give vivid definition to terms that are abstract by citing concrete illustrations or additional examples.
EXAMPLES
This is a method that makes use of citing similarities (comparison) and differences (contrast) between two objects.
COMPARISON AND CONTRAST
This is a method that points out that something is done that triggered it (cause), therefore it brought about a result (effect).
CAUSE AND EFFECT
This is a method of describing or illustrating a term’s physical attributes and appearance, this method uses adjectives in describing.
DESCRIPTION
This method uses negative statement to emphasize the meaning of a particular word.
NEGATION
Is almost any act of noting relationships. * The act of locating a specimen of all the different kinds of objects that possess a given characteristic/s.
CLASSIFICATION
Must begin with the recognition that different things possess similar characteristics. Also means explaining which class a thing belongs to. Dividing a group of things into classes.

Is useful when you have a number of things to discuss, among which there are points of similarity & difference which is important for the reader to understand.

Writers divide a very complex & comprehensive chunk of data into several just so that they can easily tackle all the complexities in a structured fashion.
