A

suffer, experience; κακῶς/εὖ πάσχειν = be treated badly/ well, fare badly/well
This verb has three different stems: πενθ-, πονθ-, and παθ-. The present stem πασχ- is derived from παθ-σκ- (θ drops out, κ is roughened). Note that the deponent future of πάσχω (= πείσομαι “I shall suffer”) and the middle future of πείθω (= πείσομαι “I shall obey”) are identical in form.
