Lesson 3 - differential reinforcement Flashcards
what is differential reinforcement?
reinforcing 1 desirable response + withholding reinforcement for another undesirable response
What are the 4 ways to conduct differential reinforcement?
differential reinforcement of alternative behavior (DRA), of incompatible bx (DRI), of other bx (DRO), of low rates (DRL)
What is DRA?
differential reinforcement of alternative behavior
- teaching different functional behavior
ex. When Tom looks away when presented with task, instead of making him continue to do the task we teach him to ask for a break
What is DRI?
differential reinforcement of incompatible behavior
-reinforcing behavior that is not topographically compatible with the target behavior
ex. reinforcing Sue when she sits instead of running away
What is DRO?
differential reinforcement of other behavior
- reinforcing every other behavior except for target behavior
What is DRL?
differential reinforcement of low rates
- teaching they can do the bx at low rates
ex. you can blow a raspberry 2 times but not 3 or more
What is a behavior intervention plan?
information on kiddo intervention, problem behavior +operational definition, function, antecedent, etc.
AKA behavior reduction plan
