INSTITUTIONAL APPROACH

RELATIONAL APPROACH

FAMILY
also known as immediate families that are composed of parents and children.
NUCLEAR FAMILIES
are those that are composed of the nuclear family
and other relatives such as grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
EXTENDED FAMILIES
are composed of the spouses and their children
from a previous marriage.
RECONSTITUTED FAMILIES
one’s descent is based on the female line.
MATRILINEAL KINSHIP
one’s descent is based on the male line.
PATRILINEAL KINSHIP
refers to a descent system based on both the male
and female lines.
BILINEAL KINSHIP
culture-specific and it can either be monogamous or polygamous marriage.
MARRIAGE
for more Christian societies, marriage is monogamous which means that a spouse cannot have more than one spouse.
MONOGAMOUS
among Islamic societies, marriage can be polygamous which means that a person can have more than one spouse.
POLYGAMOUS
a husband could take many wives

a wife can have many husbands
POLYANDRY
It is an institution that addresses questions regarding limited resources of society.
THE ECONOMY
the answers to the important questions regarding the resources of the society should be determined by the market.
LIBERAL ECONOMISTS
They believe that the bourgeoisie or the social class are largely controlling the means of production would have and overwhelming control over
the free-market economy.
SOCIALISTS
made up of those who are involved in the financial sector like bankers, industrialists, and owners of corporations.
BOURGEOISIE (the social class)
the market and the state should be under the control of the proletariat or the laborers
PROLETARIAT (the labors)
It is the solution to the alienation of man in a free market system and is an alternative to a free market system controlled by bankers and industrialists.

It refers to cases when the market becomes inefficient due to imperfect competition, imperfect information, imperfect mobility, and the like.
MARKET FAILURES
ensure that individuals are functionally literate.
Schools do not only ensure a literate population; they also transmit culture. The beliefs, norms, values, and practices of a society are taught in classrooms.
