labia minora
- inner “lips”, can extend outward between labia majora, hairless
- important in sexual stimulation and arousal
- vary widely in appearance
female genitals (external)
clitoris
- complex structure, mostly internal
- many nerve endings
- sole function pleasure
- clitoral stimulation most common way for women to achieve orgasm
female genitals (external)
vulvar vestibule
- area of the vulva contained within the labia minora
- lots of nerve endings and blood vessels
- contains the vaginal and urethral openings
female genitals (external)
urethral opening
- around halfway between the clitoris and vaginal opening within the vulvar vestibule
- not highly sensitive to sexual stimulation
- urethra is the tube that takes urine from the bladder to be expelled from the body
- some women ejaculate fluid from their urethras (squirting)
female genitals (external)
the vaginal opening
- very sensitive region of the vulvar vestibule
- varies in size, lies below urethral opening
female genitals (external)
hymen
- thin membrane partially covering the vaginal opening
- protect vaginal tissues
- some people born without it
- may be torn/broken, first time intercourse, sporting activities, tampon, etc
- part of the vulva NOT vagina
female genitals (internal)
vagina
- canal starting at vaginal opening and extends up tilting towards the base of the spine
- connected to the cervix
- sexually unaroused = appearance deflated balloon
- vasocongestion, enhances chances of conception, pleasure
female genitals (internal)
skene’s glands
- pair of glands, front wall of vagina
- ducts empty into the urethra
- believed to contribute to the sensitivity of the g-spot
female genitals (internal)
the g-spot
- highly sensitive area on the front wall of the vagina, around 5cm from vaginal opening
- can be pleasurable/not for some
- debatable existence
male genitals (external)
penis
function, sections
functions
- sexual pleasure, ejaculation, urination, reproduction
sections

cons
- genital mutilation without consent
- risks, low but still there
- possible loss of sexual pleasure
male genitals (external)
the scrotum
- pouch of skin that contains the testes
- hangs directly under base of penis
- responds to temperature, contracts if cold
