Stages of change (explain)
Any changes an individual makes are based on internal choice
Stages of change
1 pre contemplation 2 contemplation 3 preparation 4 action 5 maintenance
Pre contemplation
Individual Is unaware that problem exist
Have no intention of changing and if do seek help it’s only pressure from others
Contemplation
Individual is aware of the problem but they still believe that the positive aspects outweigh the negative aspects
They begin to think about changing but they have made no commitment to change
Preparation
Individual has an intention to change and they are beginning to plan how they will change
Action
Individual is ready to change they modify their behavior and their environment to overcome the problem
They take the proper steps
Maintenance
The individual has changed their behavior for six or more months they focus and not reverting back
Help someone in pre-contemplation and contemplation
Educating then about the negative consequences of their action so they will want to move to the next step
Help someone in preparation stage
Encouraging them to begin changing now instead of waiting
Help someone in action stage
Making them their change
Help someone in maintenance stage
Reinforcing their positive change

A dreamed that you are dedicated to therefore you plan and work for it
Plan and work for a goal
Dream: first you must know what you want you must be able to specify what you want in writing
Dedicated: to be dedicated to something you must be willing to make personal sacrifices in order to achieve it
Plan: a goal does not just happen you must plan how it will happen
Work: work hard to reach your goal it may not be easy therefore you should stay motivated in order to keep yourself working
