Lesson 12 Flashcards

1
Q

What is combined heat and power?

A

• CHP generates electricity by capturing usable heat
• Combines older large-scale power plants which lose 66% of energy due to long transport
• With new ones which are smaller-scale so less transport needs
• This reduces CO2 emissions
• New plants 90% efficiency whereas old ones only 45%
