Lession 3: Establishing Team and Technical Agility (2-3 questions) Flashcards
What are the three dimensions associated with Team and Technical Agility competency?
Agile Teams – High-performing, cross-functional teams anchor the competency by applying effective Agile principles and practices.
Teams of Agile Teams – Agile teams operate within the context of an Agile Release Train (ART), a long-lived team of Agile teams that provides a shared vision and direction and is ultimately responsible for delivering solution outcomes.
Built-In Quality – All Agile teams apply defined Agile practices to create high-quality, well-designed solutions that support current and future business needs.
Agile teams include < n-number> or less team cross functional team members. What are the two specialty roles associated with a SAFe agile Team?
10 or less members
Product Owner
Team Coach (Scrum master)
What are the roles associated with Scrum master?
- Facilitate PI Planning
- Support iteration execution
- Improve Flow
- Build High-Performance team
- Improve ART Performance
What are the roles associated with Product Owner?
- Connect with the customer
- Contribute to the vision and roadmap
- Manage and prioritize the team backlog
- Support the team in delivering value
- Getting and Applying feedback
What are the (Five) Basic Agile quality practices?
► Shift learning left – Reveal problems sooner,
take corrective action with minimum impact
► Pairing and Peer Review – Multiple viewpoints enhance work quality and grow knowledge.
► Collective Ownership and T-shaped skills -
Reduce bottlenecks and increase flow
► Artifact Standards and Definition of Done -
Ensure consistent quality for each work product.
► Workflow Automation – Enable small batches and reduce errors.
What is an ART and what are 3 attributes of an ART?
Multiple Agile teams collaborate as members of an Agile Release Train, which operates across business functions to deliver one or more solutions.
An ART:
► A virtual organization of 5–12 teams (50–125+ individuals per ART)
► Synchronized on a common cadence—The PI
► Aligned to a common mission via a single ART Backlog
What are the roles associated with an ART?
Release Train Engineer is a coach for the Agile Release Train.
System Architect provides architectural guidance and technical enablement to the teams on the train.
Business Owners are key stakeholders on the Agile Release Train.
Product Management owns, defines, and prioritizes the ART Backlog.
System Team provides processes and tools to integrate and evaluate assets early and often.
What are the (four) team topologies?
Stream-aligned team – Organized around the flow of work and has the ability to deliever value directly to the Customer or end user.
Complicated subsystem team – Organized around specific subsystems that require deep specialty skills and expertise.
Platform team – Organized around the development and support of platforms that provide services to other teams
Enabling team – Organized to assist other teams with specialized capabilities and help them become proficient in new technologies.
Built-in quality is linked to what core competency?
Built-in quality is linked to the fast flow of value described in SAFe principle 6: Make value flow without interruptions
Accelerating problem discovery and taking corrective action occurs by shifting learning left on the timeline. Improved collaboration, workflow automation, more frequent delivery, and faster customer feedback support a quicker learning process.
What are the team (and ART) responsibilities?
There are five
The ultimate purpose of every team and ART is to deliver effective solutions to the customer.
- Connecting with the customer
- Planning the work
- Deliverying Value
- Getting Feedback
- Improving Relentlessly
