What is an intransitive verb?
They have no object (i.e. can be used for a place, time, manner or goal etc.)
A verb is intransitive if it doesn’t answer ‘who’ or ‘what’.
e.g. je suis né à Neuchâtel

They have an object, their meaning is not complete without it.
A verb is transitive if it answers ‘who’ or ‘what’.
e.g. j’ai pris le train pour Paris
What are the types of objects a transitive verb can have?
Direct objects

What kind of objects can the pronoun in a reflexive verb be?
Direct object

When does the past participle agree with a transitive verb?
When it’s a direct object.
What is a verb with two objects?
‘Ditransitif’
e.g. il a parlé de Sarah à Jonathan
What are the corresponding pronouns to ‘à’ or ‘de’ and when are they used?
These are all used for a transitive verb with an indirect object.
For a thing: ‘à’ becomes ‘y’ and ‘de’ becomes ‘en’
For a person: ‘à’ becomes ‘moi/toi/lui/nous/vous/eux’ and ‘de’ becomes the same
