Describe the Data Protection Act 1998
it governs the use of personal data stored by companies in order to make sure that it is safe and not passed on to other people
In what situations can personal data be passed on to others?
Issues of national security or where a crime has been committed and to investigate taxes
List the rules of the DPA
- Data must be processed legally
- Must be used for specific purpose
- Minimum required for the purpose
- Data must be accurate and up to date
- Kept for a suitable amount of time
- Data subjects should be able to see the data stored about them
- Should be secure and safe
- When transferring data countries need similar laws to DPA
State three things the Computer Misuse Act 1990 is against
it’s illegal to gain unauthorized access to data ( hacking), it’s illegal to hack to steal credit cars details and it’s illegal to change data without permission (sending a virus)
What does the Regulatory of Investigatory Powers Act allow
allows the police to access personal emails, see SMS messages and listen to phone calls
Employers are responsible for the health and safety of their employees,what must they do?
Inspect workstations regularly, train staff on health and safety procedures and provide eye tests for free.
