System of government in UK
-While a king or queen is the head of state, a prime minister is the head of government.

-These members of the Cabinet are drawn exclusively from the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
The UK Parliament
-based at Westminster in London, is supreme to all other government institutions, including any executive or judicial bodies.
The House of Commons
-consists of 646 elected MPs. Of the 646 seats, 529 represent constituencies in England, 40 in Wales, 59 in Scotland, and 18 in Northern Ireland.
The House of Lords
-is the second chamber or
upper house of the UK Parliament. It works with the House of Commons to make laws, scrutinise the actions of the government, and provide a forum of independent expertise.
-The House of Lords Chamber spends most of its time on legislation; the rest is spent on scrutiny-questioning the government and debating issues and policy.

The Labour Party
-It advocates state intervention and social Justice, besides workers’ rights.
-It emphasizes social democracy and the principle of democratic socialism.
-Having more than half a million members, the party was estimated in 2017 to be the “largest party in Western Europe.
