Goal conflict
each parties goals threaten the goals of the other
judgement conflict
agree on goal but not on how to attain it
values conflict
one party evaluates the other on the basis of how they behave or what they believe
power conflict
each party feels they are correct, and it is disadvantageous to share the power
Accommodate Conflict Style
backs down on own needs and goals
compete conflict style
pushes own goals and needs exclusively
avoid conflict style
does not want to meet anyone’s needs because “it is too much trouble”
compromise conflict style
offers to give up some of one in exchange for the other part of their goal being accepted
collaborate conflict style
tries to get people to listen and check for understanding while trying to get all parties goals on the table and met if possible
