Flexibility of Installation
Low Space Requirements
Low Weight
Self-Lubricating
Low Maintenance (MX) Requirements
Hydraulic systems combine the advantages of lighter weight, ease of installation, simplification of inspection, and minimum maintenance requirements. Hydraulic operation are almost 100% efficient, with only a negligible loss due to fluid friction.
Flexibility of installation – the lines can be run anywhere.
Low space requirements – The functional parts of a hydraulic system are small compared to those of other systems.
Low weight – the hydraulic system weighs remarkably little compared to the amount of work it does.
Self-lubricating – majority of the parts operate in a bath of oil.
Low Maintenance requirements – adjustments and repairs to the parts of hydraulic systems are seldom necessary.
A column of liquid exerts (pressure) proportional to it’s height
Volume has no effect
ITS ALL ABOUT THE HEIGHT!!
It makes no difference as to the shape or size of the vessel that contains the liquid; it’s the height of the column that is the critical factor. The pressure read by all of the gauges will be the same, since the height is the same.
