Must be used for the specified purposes
Must be transparent with what the data is used for
Accurate and kept up to date
Mustn’t be kept for longer than necessary
What is article 6
Legislation that states requirements that must be met for the processing of personal data. Such as:
- consent, the individual must give consent
- the info is vital to saving someone’s life
- the process in necessary to carry out a task in the public interest
And individuals must be informed of how their data is going to be used

- there is no time limit to consent
- there are rules in places regarding withdrawing consent
