A

What are the types of school programming offered to gifted children?

A
  1. “Natural” progress: argument is that children of high ability can fend for themselves, assumes age-grade grouping is beneficial in all cases, special programs are seen as unfair or elitist
  2. Enrichment: provides a qualitative or quantitative
    experience while maintaining age grade status
  3. Acceleration: involves progress through an educational program at a faster rate or at younger ages than usual, ex. starting school at a younger age, or skipping grades

  1. Lateral/Horizontal: assigning more of the same kind of work, or additional classes at same level
