Q

Things to get out of this lecture and reading (and previous ones):

General theories as tools for thinking systematically and analytically about:

  • how basic underlying psychological processes play out across many diverse settings.
  • the key inputs to those processes (e.g., prior knowledge, evidence)
  • how changes in those inputs should, hypothetically, change outputs (i.e., responses, behaviour, judgments)
  • what sort of experiments/findings might be relevant
  • how to integrate and evaluate diverse findings to try to understand what might cause those findings
