What are the two forms of abstracts?
Unstructured (Descriptive) Outline rather than summary. No judgments or conclusions.
Structured (informative) Condensed format with purpose, methods, results and conclusion.

Summarize main points that compose a manuscript.

Is an abstract original?
YES not an excerpt from manuscript.
Nearly as much work as manuscript and should carry similar content and tone. Encourages reading of full manuscript.
