It is inevitable that you bring your own concepts of the world. There is always an element of subjectivity
How do philosophical ideas connect to contemporary social sciences?
It resulted in qualitative research methods
What is Anti-realism?

What is the middle course?
; qualitative methods produce evidence about how people (including the research) interact with each other. Creating a co-creation of the subject.
What are the two ways to achieve a middle course?
- Reflexivity
- Full disclosure
What is reflexivity?
Making the researcher perspective explicit.
How is reflexivity achieved?
By bracketing: Identify your own background belief, and then filter this out in the research.
What is a problem of bracketing?
- How reliable are researcher to do this? How do you know your own biases? Its hard to know this, there ore often blind spots.
But when you think you fully understand this, doesn’t this presuppose the kind of authenticity again?
What is full disclosure?
Being explicit about it. Self-conscious writing on your background, opinions.
