  • Multiple blood cultures before commencing antibiotic therapy
  • Repeat blood cultures are recommended 48-72 hours after commencing antimicrobial therapy
  • Biopsy samples may be of value for bone infections
  • Imaging X-ray, CT, MRI, Radionuclide imaging
  • Transthoracic echocardiography
