Define intersectionality

A

the way that aspects of our identity such as race, gender, ethnicity, religion, age, sexuality and occupation can overlap and affect our life chances

Define structural suffering

A

When there is an inequality of access to processes that enhance and sustain wellbeing. In other words, it is when a “social structure” may inhibit a group from accessing their basic needs.

What is the social model of disability?

A

circulating norms about what is an appropriate manner of moving (amongst other things) and how these restrict the life chances of people who demonstrate some perfectly ordinary form of difference from this norm
