What are the 3 LI functions
Receives food + drink from the SI and extracts fluids from it
Excretes the stools
Mentally in charge of letting go
abdominal pain, tenesmus, blood + mucus in stools, burning sensation in anus, diarrhea w yellow watery stools, offensive stool door, thirst w no desire to drink, scanty deep yellow urine, fever, sweating
rapid and slippery pulses
red tongue body w yellow sticky coating
LI Damp Heat
constipation w dry stools, burning sensation in mouth, burning + swelling in anus, dark scanty urine
full and rapid pulses
red tongue body w thick yellow or brown, dry coat
LI Heat - consumption of fluid
what causes LI Damp heat
excessive consumption of hot and greasy foods
pathogenic summer heat, damp and heat
what causes LI Heat - consumption of Fluid
excessive consumption of hot foods (lamb, beef, alcohol)
sudden abdominal pain, diarrhea w pain, feeling of cold, cold sensation in the abdomen
deep and wiry pulses
thick white tongue coating
cold invading the LI

chronic exposure to cold weather w abdomen exposed
sitting on cold, wet surfaces for long periods
dry stools, constipation, dry mouth and throat, yellow scanty urine
thready pulses
dry red tongue or pale body w/o coating
LI dryness
what causes LI dryness
blood or yin def (elderly, women after delivery, late stages of febrile ds)
dry and warm climates
chronic diarrhea, anal prolapse, hemorrhoids, fatigue after BMs, decreased or absence of appetite, cold limbs, mental exhaustion, better w abdominal massage
pale tongue
deep fine weak pulses
LI Collapse

spleen and stomach def
excessive physical work
abdominal distension, abdominal pain, constipation w bitty stools, aggravted by mood, irritability
wiry pulses on both chi positions
normal tongue to slightly red sides
LI qi stag
what causes LI qi stag
irregular eating habits
frustration, anger
