What format are “traditional” reference collections in?
Many other print formats. What are they?
Books, serials, gov’t info, special collections
What are types of electronic collections?
Video recordings, film, sound recordings, special collections (“born digital”), databases (text, media).
Every format a library carries requires what?
Storage and on going maintenance.
Is digital permanence easier than paper?
No. Preserving digital resources is a very complex issue.
What are the two broadest categories within the issues of digital preservation?
Storage and access. Storage: digital devices change rapidly, how long will the data last & remain error free? Access: relates to hardware able to retrieve stored info and data.
