Q

Fill in the blanks for Convex-on-concave motion:

When _____ side of a joint is stabilized (anchored), the ____ surface glides (slides) in the ___ direction as it rolls.

A

Convex on concave = when concave is anchored, convex glides in the opposite direction as it rolls

Q

Fill in the blanks for Concave on convex motion:

When _____ side of a joint is stabilized (anchored), the ____ surface glides (slides) in the ___ direction as it rolls.

A

Concave on convex = when convex is anchored, concave glides in the same direction as it rolls

Q

Clinical significance of convex-concave rules?

A

Serve as basis for joint mobilization techniques. Treatment combines physiologic (osteokinematic) and accessory (arthrokinematic) movements.
Follow rules to restore normal joint play to increase pain-free joint range of motion.
