Lecture 4 Flashcards
What are Epithelia tissue and give 1 example
Look like epithelial tissue, but lack free surface.
Liver cells are one example
What is the Basement made up of, what which stain is + for the basement, and where is this absent?
Type IV collagen and glycoproteins
PAS+
Absent in Lymph Vessels & Hepatic sinusoids
What are the 3 things Reticular Lamina is made of?
Argryophilic (Silver-loving) fibers
Reticular Fibers
Glycoproteins
Where is heavily Keratinized epithelia found?
Skin
Where is Lightly Keratinized epithelia found?
Esophagus & Vagina
What do Stereocilia and MicroVilli have in common?
Both are made up of a core of Actin Microfilaments and Actin-associated proteins
What is the difference between Stereocilia and Microvilli?
Stereocilia are longer, branch, and ends have endocytotic vesicles
Where are 3 general areas Simple Squamous cells are normally found? And also give 3 specific examples.
Lining of Ducts, Blood Vessels, & other tubular structures
Specific examples: Alveoli, Bowman’s Capsule, Labyrinth/Tympanic membrane.
Where are the 8 specific examples that Simple Cuboidal cells are located?
Ovary Retina Kidney Tubules Glands/Ducts Bronchioles Choroid Plexus Lens of eye
give 5 examples where CILIATED Simple Columnar cells can be found
Upper Respiratory Tract Uterine Tubules Uterus Paranasal Sinuses Central Canal of Spinal Cord
Where would NON-Ciliated Simple Columnar be found? 3 examples
Digestive tract with stomach, gall bladder, and excretory ducts of glands
Where is Lightly/Non-Keratinzed Stratified Squamous found? give 5 examples
Esophagus Vagina Lining of Mouth Tongue Epiglottis
Where is Heavily Keratinized Stratified Squamous found? And give 2 examples
Mostly found in the skin (epidermis) with CT Papillae.
Also in Cornea WITHOUT CT Papillae.
What are the 2 locations Stratified Cuboidal is found?
Anal Mucosa & Male Urethra.
What are the 4 locations Stratified Columnar is found?
Ducts of sweat glands
Fornix of eye
Male reproductive tract/urinary tract
Pharynx/Epiglottis
